The two days of the Bridge to China Conference are in the books and it was a great pleasure to see our startups pitching in front of an amazing audience of partners, corporates and investors from China!

The holidays are just around the corner. For us, it’s a good time to be thankful for the year’s milestones and successes. After all, even the Covid19 pandemic didn’t stop us from creating workshops for you, launching our own podcast, inviting you to our community events, and cheering for you at our annual Pitch Conference!

Alcohol, business and Chinese culture have always had an intimate relationship. Matthias Heger, co-founder of Ming River, introduced us to the dos and don’ts of Chinese drinking etiquette and we had the pleasure of tasting different Baijius.
This year we celebrated our first birthday at the AsiaBerlin Summit 2021 and hosted a satellite event on “AI startups solving industry challenges”. Our aim was to explore, how science-based AI Startups in China and Germany are solving industry challenges and how to build a digital bridge between the AI Campus Berlin and Shanghai’s Zhangjiang AIsland.
We had wonderful guests and speaker: Rasmus Rothe (Merantix), Zhao Dong (Zhangjiang Group), Tina Klüwer (K.I.E.Z.), Thomas Strottner (brighter AI), Scott Zhang (Neolix) and Grace Che (Conti Tech China).
With our brand new podcast show „Bridge to China“ we want to answer the most pressing questions European founders have regarding China. For that we interview people with vast knowledge and long-term experience with China, those are entrepreneurs, investors, politicians, scientists, journalists and other China-experts.
In our first episode we spoke to Sabine Yang-Schmidt and Yiran Li, both are representatives of the Berlin Business Desk China of Berlin’s Senate Department for Economics, Energy and Public Enterprises with an office in Beijing.

We had two successful days of our Online Conference, where nine of our startups got the opportunity to pitch in front of Chinese investors and potential business partners from Shanghai, Chengdu and Beijing.
Three of them won the first prize in the competition and are going on the journey to China with us: Grown Valve, Kea Robotics and SEMRON.
In this session we prepared our startups for the upcoming online conferences. They received final tips and insights on how to successfully pitch their innovation at our international Bridge to China conference this January.
In cooperation with InnoEU Tech Bridge we organised an online seminar tailored for start-ups who are interested in entering the Chinese market. The agenda was to better understand doing business with China and receiving hands-on advice from renowned experts.
Our shareholder Volker Hofmann participated at the kick-off event of „chinnotopia – Future designed by China“. chinnotopia an online feature series initiated (amongst others) by our partner Center for Cultural Studies on Science and Technology in China of TU Berlin.
Our partner InnoEU brought 50 startups, SMEs and networks to visit Beijing, Chengdu and Shanghai in December 2019. The Global Innovation Summit conference enabled the European participants to present their companies and products to the Chinese audience, it provided networking opportunities, best practice exchange and cultural experience.
